On intuition / Intuición

Not enough has been said about intuition: we are taught to not pay attention to it when we are little and our parents tell us to smile, or even love someone even when something inside us says we shouldn’t: ‘You need to be polite. She’s nice’, they say carelessly, and of course what else can they say, and what else can you do.

So you smile and convince yourself that person is lovable, and you were wrong, and the thought of you being wrong because others know best extrapolates, and before you know it, you are looking for answers outside because you forgot how to listen to yourself.

We suppress our instincts to be accepted. And of course certain instincts need to be molded, and politeness is necessary, but never to the extent where we stop paying attention to the truth that lies within us: that voice inside called intuition, matters.

Your mind. So many thoughts. And yet have you ever questioned how many of them are actually not yours?

They are voices.

And the more you listen to them, the louder they get. Because we are not alone: we have a connection with something greater than ourselves that is ready to listen, and yet we forget.
Muses: creatives always need their muses. But what are they, but people whose simple presence connects them with these voices, and fill them with curiosity.

And it matters.

Because in times like this, we all need a spiritual anchor. This connection is more necessary than ever. Only there can we find the tools to surrender and recoup the dialogue within ourselves. In that dialogue there’s certainty, and in certainty you find surrender.

We all need to surrender: world problems are not going away, nor is the never-ending learning process we are here for, or our to-do lists, and the belief we don’t have time for anything.

What we’ve lost by disconnecting from our intuition is the understanding that everything will be ok.  Surrender to what the world brought you here for. And say it out loud. Ask for specific signs.
I’m sure you weren’t expecting this, but pray: pray out loud to whoever you prayed when you were little, before you understood how flawed and human religions are.

I hadn’t prayed in so long, but someone told me I should. And I cried the first time I did, because it reconnected me to all the unanswered prayers I prayed when I was little.  But suddenly, it seemed as if someone was listening.  And then I took time everyday to breathe. And my intuition sharpened. And so I kept breathing, and the path became clearer. Don’t think that God is as simple as we are. She’s in places you would never expect her to be. God is better than religion.

Ask for a sign and listen. Connect to a higher power, however you want to call it.

Because we all need to surrender.

So many books. So many talks. So many videos. We were actually born with this knowledge. Past generations knew it worked.  We created characters and stories to make sure we would not forget, but we were too human. Technology  disconnected us from the truth that we represent.

In the end, everything has been said about intuition.
And yet it takes a lifetime for us to listen.
