When did we decide that living apart was better than being together? It must have happened when we decided that work and achievements were our priorities.

Not being busy seems to be so awful these days. And yet, it is well regarded to fragment ourselves. But are fragments created because of the distance, or are they life itself?

It is strange that I have this nostalgia for something that I haven’t even experienced.

However, I don’t know when will the last farewell to a familiar face be. Sometimes I see those who used to trigger a sense of belonging in me, turn into empty faces or even strangers, as we spend time together growing apart.

But I still try to stop time. And I live my life thinking that now I’m going to see more of those I love, trying to hold on to them, or the memory of what once was, or what could have been, in the hope that time will slow down.

Yet it won’t.

My life continues to go by.

Perhaps, faster than before.

Esos rostros familiares
